I have been thinking about an electric vest, not too expensive, a couple hundred buck, but don't know where to pack it when hot out. Space is at a premium when touring like a bad ass Savage biker.
A customer came in a couple of days ago with a heated mirror off a truck, it was blemished so I cut him a new piece and he left the old one as junk.
I looked at the heating grid and a lite went on.
A bit of acetone softened up the glue holding it and a few minutes later I had a piece of heating grid 6x15 inches. I connected it to a battery and found it doesn't get tooooo hot.
I sewed a pocket into the back of my leather jacket linning, connected an inline switch to the two terminals on the back of the grid and a curly cord I had in my junk box with a cig liter plug on the end. Total time invested = 1hour, dollars = $000.00
Now I am WAITING for cold weather so I can try it out.
I may have to put a thermostat in line to control the temp, I'll just use one of those thermodiscs that appliance people use, they come in different temps.
Has anybody tried this, it seems too simple.
I'm thinking of going to Sturgis in August, has anybody been? Is it safe for us metrics amongst all those HD's. The first thing they all say is "it doesn't matter what you ride, as long as you ride" yeah rite. I've heard it is a real animal show.
Anybody in western Canada want to ride out together?
